MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY BALL
The Third Annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball Celebration, hosted by the Ellis County Detachment 1452 of the Marine Corps League is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas. The first two years of this event were huge successes and this year is expected to surpass all expectations. Attendees will get to experience traditional Marine Corps ceremony at its finest.
This year the Marine Corps will turn 244 years old on November 10th. This is the biggest day of the year for Marines as we honor the service itself and those Marines that came before us. A Marine Corps Ball is exciting to attend year after year, for those that have attended many to those who are attending their first ever.
This is a semi-formal event which allows both male and female participants to dress up and have a night out on the town. A Marine Corps Ball is a Great Date night out, away from the kids.
Tickets for this event are $50.00 for individual general admission tickets. There are five Platinum level 'Ground Infantry Sponsorship's which are valued at $750 (table of 8 seats plus many other perks). ONLY ONE GROUND INFANTRY SPONSORSHIP IS AVAILABLE AS OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, SO PURCHASE THE REMAINING ONE SOON IF YOU WANT IT. Individual ticket holders will sit at six seat tables while the sponsorship tables are larger and will hold eight seats and are also positioned at the front of the ballroom with better views of the official cake-cutting ceremony. Tickets went on sale August 31, 2019, so you can get your tickets today. Where can you get them you ask? Great question...
This year the Detachment decided to continue our use of the online Eventbrite.com platform to sell tickets, which worked very well for us last year. Tickets are being sold at https://mcbirthdayball-2019-ecodet1452.eventbrite.com, or you can use your web browser to search for: Marine Corps Birthday Ball Celebration (2019), Ellis County, Texas. To make things easier, you can also purchase tickets through the widget below.
A 50/50 Raffle will be conducted at this event in order to allow our guests the opportunity to win some money, while at the same time allowing the Detachment to raise a few more funds for the cause. Tickets will be $1.00 per ticket and will be sold at the door while guests are checking in. The purchasers name and phone number will need to be written on the back of the ticket before it goes into the container, which will allow guests to not have to be present to win. If you will be present during the drawing then there is no need to do so. The drawing will be held at the conclusion of dinner at roughly 8:30 pm. Please consider purchasing tickets and hopefully you are the big winner!

Bill Smith, from Bill Smith Photography, will be on hand to provide pictures of attendees to commemorate the event. Many Marines and their guests create a tradition of getting their Ball pictures taken every year. This could be your chance to do the same. Bill Smith will have several packages available at good prices. This year's backdrop will be different then last year's, providing an opportunity for successive year's photos to stand out amongst the rest.
Our Guest of Honor this year will be a Past Commandant of the Department of Texas, Marine Corps League; Charles Ynman of Houston, Texas.
This ceremony is the same ceremony put on by Active duty and Reserve units throughout the Marine Corps every year. Our members graciously volunteer their time to participate in this ceremony which brings tradition along with Marine Corps ceremony together for an awe-inspiring experience for the guests that are fortunate enough to witness it. A Marine Corps birthday cake will be presented, cut, and given to the Guest of Honor and the Oldest and Youngest Marines present. Most civilians never get the opportunity to experience a Marine Corps Birthday Ball ceremony, and those that do always walk away from the experience with nothing but praise for what they have witnessed. A message from the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps, General John A. Lejeune will be read, and a message from the current Commandant, General David Berger and Sergeant Major Troy Black will be played.
