Get Connected. Stay Connected. Join Us Once Today.
First and foremost, being a member of the marine Corps League in Ellis County, Texas affords each individual the opportunity to "give back" to the marine Corps for the terrific education and opportunities we were provided. Your support helps make your Detachment stronger, and stronger Detachments around the country benefit the community, the League, the U.S. Marine Corps, and our Nation. Membership also provides individuals with the following opportunities:
Stay Informed
Members are kept informed of pertinent information and activities relevant to the U.S. Marine Corps, and the Marine Corps League through meetings, newsletters, emails, phone calls and texts, and monthly breakfast get together's to name a few. Members are sent the Semper Fi magazine - an exclusive member benefit - to ensure you are aware of information around the League and the Corps that might be of interest.
Members are provided access to the Marine Corps League National website, the Department of Texas website, as well as this Detachment website that contains current news and information, meeting and event forms and/or registration and helpful resources.
Professional Networking and Social Events
Members are invited to attend monthly breakfast events (named Jack's Chow after our first, and only deceased member, Rex Jack) that provide opportunities to connect with other members and fellow Veterans which provides an atmosphere to tell war stories and just get to know one another better.
Members are invited to Detachment events including both scheduled events like monthly membership meetings, a summer Detachment anniversary Family picnic, the Marine Corps Birthday Ball and adhoc events arising from opportunities with 'partner' organizations. Many of these events are made available at discounted pricing to members, if not free.
Members are provided a myriad of networking opportunities through the monthly meetings, monthly Jack's Chow breakfast get-togethers, and local, district, department and National Marine Corps League conventions, conferences and events. Don't miss the chance to network with fellow Veterans and Leaguers; Marines, Navy FMF Chaplains and Corpsmen transitioning out of the service, those looking to hire, and those looking to do business with fellow members. Membership dues along with donations from within our community help fund the events that help facilitate these initiatives and help us help us help our fellow members in need.
Provide Valuable Input and Assistance
Through our Detachment Officers, who are elected and appointed by the membership, we have a voice back to the marine Corps League Department of Texas and National Headquarters for issues or items of interest.
Detachment members are afforded the opportunity to nominate and elect Detachment, Department and National Officer Nominees into office. At the local level it is easy to see who is running and vote for them based off of personal preferences. At the Department and National levels, Detachment Officers and members who attend the appropriate Conferences and Conventions take the Detachment's votes and vote as delegates of the Detachment.
Members assist the Detachment in sponsoring and supporting events for our Veterans and servicemen and women (and their families), able and disabled Veterans, and other like-minded organizations who support our mission.
Identify Future Leaders to Serve In Our League and Our Community
Membership provides opportunities to promote the Marine Corps and the Marine Corps League, and help identify the future leaders to serve in our Detachment and our community.
Members help our Detachment Officers identify potential Detachment Officer candidates and assist with the Marine Corps League's informational and recruitment campaigns and events.
