Robert Gillentine is a Charter member of the Ellis County Detachment, 1452 of the Marine Corps League Inc. He has been able to bring many skills to the table in order to help the Detachment progress forward in the effort to accomplish our mission throughout Ellis County. His leadership skills and knowledge of the nonprofit sector (primarily the financial side of the house) along with his knowledge of the culinary arts (helping with our community relations events such as the annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball) and the Insurance industry have been vital to our success.
"I joined the Marine Corps after graduating from Ennis High School in 1994. In the Marine Corps, I was a Logistics Vehicle System (LVS) Operator assigned to 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion (CEB) at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In 1997 I was medically discharged from the Corps as a Corporal (E-4).
In 1999 utilizing my GI Bill; I enrolled at the Art Institute of Dallas where I attained a degree in Culinary Arts in 2001. I worked my way through many kitchens in various leadership capacities due in part to the leadership traits and knowledge that I gained in the Corps. I spent time in Hotels and Country Clubs in the Dallas area finally ending up in healthcare from 2005 through 2016 with my final role being the Manager of Food Service Operations for Children’s Health Inc. I have also been involved with the Bardwell Area Volunteer Fire Department, where I currently hold the role of Captain/Treasurer, since 2007.
Currently, I am blessed to be a contracted Agent for Texas Farm Bureau. I get to utilize the soft skills developed over several years working with kitchen staff and customers alike to provide the highest level of customer service and develop relationships with people from all walks of life."
